The last time you heard experimental rock quintet Man Man was probably 2007, when the song “10lb Mustache” from their debut album, The Man in a Blue Turban with Face, was used in a Nike ad featuring Rainn Wilson. You may not have pinned the coveted ad spot to the band, whose songs tend to range wildly in scope and instrumentation; the band is known to use anything from a sousaphone to metal spoons to fireworks to craft its unique sound. Its latest release, 2011’s Life Fantastic, continues the experimental tradition as it drifts from the electronic synth groove of opener, “Knuckle Down,” to the xylophone-heavy, drunken waltz of “Haute Tropique.” (Jacob DeSmit)
