While Earth Day still has you all fired up with green intentions, head over to Bay Village and learn to make a rain barrel. Tonight’s 90-minute workshop is presented by the Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation District; representatives are holding dozens of such classes around the region this year to encourage homeowners to collect rainwater and corral the runoff that otherwise would head down the storm sewers. The notion is gaining ground, says conservation education specialist Amy Roskilly. “For the past four years, people have filled up our workshops and asked for more. We have 20 of them scheduled for this year and probably more to come!” The $60 fee includes instruction, materials, use of all needed tools, and a downspout diverter to direct the water into your rain barrel. The session starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Bay Village Community House; phone registration is required no later than April 18. If you miss that deadline, check out the website for other upcoming workshops.
