Opening Reception - "My Indigo Vision"

An immigrant from a country where, due to her gender, religion, and subject matter, Maia Arabuli faced considerable obstacles as an artist, including censorship and lost opportunities. The art she wanted to create, but could not show publicly, gave way to the societally acceptable forms, instead of the colorful and semi-abstracted figurative nudes that make her heart sing. Upon moving to Cleveland, she was able to fully explore the subjects and styles that move her. Pinwheel Gallery is proud to showcase her work and celebrate her newfound freedom to create.
