Burre of the Moment

Several of the year’s Oscar buzzworthy films arrived last week or on Christmas Day — Foxcatcher, The Imitation Game, Into the Woods, Unbroken, Hot Tub Time Machine 2 — it's fair to say you've probably got plenty on your holiday to-view list. Still, you should check out Actress, playing at 11 over at the Cedar Lee this morning. It’s a documentary about Brandy Burre, a native Ohioan — she was born in Sandusky and did her acting schooling at OU — who's probably best known for her role as Therese D’Agostino on HBO’s The Wire. This film explores her life, and how, after giving up acting to start a family, and then returning to acting, her life became an absolute shambles. It’s a beautiful exploration of a complicated woman, and ripe for discussion, say trustworthy critics. Tickets are $5. (Allard)
