Yonder Mountain String Band/The Last Revel

After a series of changes during a dynamite 2014, Yonder Mountain regrouped and dropped the excellent Black Sheep. It’s an evolution of the band’s already-expansive sound. "Some of our songs still sound totally bluegrass,” guitarist Adam Aijala told Scene in 2015. “Some of our songs have more of a punk edge to them; there are some songs on the album that have chord structures that are reminiscent of punk rock or, like, hardcore. But it's still bluegrass instruments, and there are no effects.” Then came Love. Ain’t Love last year, which delivered groovy ‘grass tunes like “Bad Taste” and the bucolic cover of “Dancing in the Moonlight,” which encapsulates how neatly a band can evolve over the years.
