Hailing from Connecticut, the Backyard Committee call themselves an “improvisational roots rock band.” They sound like the soundtrack to a summer afternoon, filled with nostalgia and dreamy undertones, especially on their latest release, Festival. Tracks “We Had Our Fun” and “Cicadas” offer a classic indie rock sound with nice-guy vocals and catchy guitar melodies. “I’ll Never Be” and “Lost Weekend” boast a more rootsy appeal with hints of bluegrass guitar and a two-step drumbeat.
