Trampoline Team/Kill the Hippies/Tonawandas

While many punk frontwomen choose to subdue their vibratos in favor of screams and shrieks, Trampoline Team’s Sam DeLucia has found a way to combine the two. She isn’t afraid to let her charmingly witchy voice bubble over the top of the simmering kettle. Finally, a band that is brewing a new flavor of punk-laced garage rock! The closest cousin to this New Orleans trio is Be Your Own Pet, although hints of Speedy Ortiz and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs can be detected by a sensitive musical palate. Trampoline Team plays the good ol’ rock ‘n roll on their first album, 2013’s Mike Life Crisis, characterized by catchy riffs and guitar solos, before transitioning to all-out punk on 2015’s Make It Faster. Across both albums, the music maintains full twist-and-shout compatibility in the midst of hostile, chugging guitars and pseudo-riotous lyrics. With a Pitchfork-approved single to top it all off (Velveteen Dream), Trampoline Team is finally starting to tour. DeLucia’s Kathleen-Hanna-meets-Hayley-Williams spunk is likely to be even more captivating in person. (Kaufman)
