Third Friday Fun

Tremont’s second-Friday-of-the-month artwalks are the oldest in the city, but the fastest-growing might be 78th Street Studio’s Third Friday Open House. Hosted under the roof of a former American Greetings factory, ten galleries and a handful more artists’ studios open their doors to the curious, and welcome them with unbelievable paintings and works in every media. Search around the galleries for the lowest suggested donation for wine, or tuck into a handheld meal from Touch Supper Club’s food truck. Tonight’s exhibits include a group exhibit at the first floor’s Cleveland West Arts League. In Tregoning and Company, Meredith Hahn opens JAZZ, a series of collage pieces revealing the flux which is the essence of life. Kenneth Paul Lesko Gallery hosts the final showing of Troy Gua’s Pop Hybrids, printed works which make wry comments on media culture by mashing up images of celebrities. At 9:15 p.m., Survival Kit Gallery will host a live troupe of classical musicians will perform Philip Glass and lesser-known works by Beethoven. It’s 30 days of culture packed into one night; to refresh, you’ll have to come back next month. (Joseph Clark)
