The War in Yemen You Don't Know About

One of the oldest societies in the world, Yemen is also the poorest Arab country. Thanks to the Arab uprisings of 2011, Yemeni society peacefully mobilized protests and forced president Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down. Now, the city finds itself mired in a violent contest between northern rebel groups and Saudi and Emirati forces. In a talk dubbed the War in Yemen You Don't Know About, University of Richmond professor Sheila Carapico, one of few Yemen experts in the U.S., will speak about the unfolding crisis in Yemen and its complex historical background with Dr. Carapico and WCPN host/producer Tony Ganzer. The lecture starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Happy Dog. it's free. (Niesel)
