The Wages of War

Why do people change so quickly when their lives are at stake? How does war change us? These are some of the questions that director Sergei Loznitsa asks rather directly in In the Fog, his film about a railway worker accused of being a Nazi collaborator. Set in World War II Belarus, the film is an ambitious undertaking and its philosophizing doesn't get in the way of the gripping story about a man struggling to survive amidst the chaos of war. It shows at 6:30 tonight at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Tickets are $9. (Niesel)
