!!!/The Very Knees

Not ones to leave something unfinished, Sacramento band !!! (or “Chk Chk Chk”) is still mixing dance and punk. Its latest effort, Thr!!!er features tracks like “One Girl / One Boy” and “Get That Rhythm Right,” songs that take high-paced beats and falsetto singing mixed with baritone backups to create a their own perfectly danceable brand of funk. “Even When the Water’s Cold” and “Slyd” take a drummier approach with synth touches that have an almost exotic, jungle appeal. The whole album is tied together by this breathless energy and promises to make tonight no exception. (Listen to it at home before you go and you’ll get your whole house clean). You’ll definitely want to take your dancing shoes to this one — it’s impossible to listen to anything by them without at least tapping your feet. (Trenholme)
