The Pharmacy/Total Babes/Smooth Brain/Luxuries

As their name might apply, the guys in Seattle’s the Pharmacy embrace psychedelic pop in such a way that it suggests they might have more than just a casual relationship with the kind of drugs that inspire this type of music. Their new album Stoned & Alone features a great collection of jangle-y garage pop tunes that sound like they were recorded in the mid-’60s. “Sure” suggests the Beatles and “Chinese Finger Trap” recalls ’70s power pop acts like Big Star. This is good stuff from a highly underrated band that’s been kicking around (and making great music) for a decade now. (Jeff Niesel)
