The Mask You Live In (2015)

If you are a fan of “Ms. Representation,” you'll love this male counterpart documentary film. “The Mask” examines how American masculinity is harming boys and men, leading to violence, suicide, and drug addiction. The featured boys and men, “Pressured by the media, their peer group, and even the adults in their lives, …confront messages encouraging them to disconnect from their emotions, devalue authentic friendships, objectify and degrade women, and resolve conflicts through violence.” The film examines men’s obligatory tough facade men, with the aim of healing our nation’s men and boys. A panel discussion will follow the film.
