On Sunday, May 20, from 4 to 8 p.m., Dante Boccuzzi, chef/owner of Restaurant DANTE, will co-host a celebratory fundraiser, The Art of Healing, to benefit University Hospitals (UH) Seidman Cancer Center. Held at DANTE (2247 Professor Avenue, Cleveland, OH) and neighboring Piccadilly’s Fine Art Galleries in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood, the event will raise funds and awareness for UH Seidman Cancer Center’s innovative cancer research, showcase UH’s art collection, and celebrate the success stories of two remarkable cancer survivors.
Co-hosts Boccuzzi and Stephen Michaelides, both of Cleveland, are now cancer-free thanks to the dedicated physicians at UH Seidman Cancer Center. This event reflects their gratitude and celebrates the incredible “art of healing” practiced and displayed at UH every day.
“There is no doubt in my mind that the level of medical care provided by University Hospitals in Cleveland and the art of healing within this community are among the finest anywhere in the world. As a Stage 4 colon cancer patient, I experienced personally the energy and intensity of their brilliance,” said Mr. Michaelides. “University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center perfectly demonstrates its mission - to heal, to teach, to discover - by combining groundbreaking research, personalized patient care, and a healing atmosphere.”
Tickets are $150 per person and include food presentations by Mr. Boccuzzi, a wine tasting, musical entertainment by Hubbard Stew jazz fusion, an online art auction featuring world-renowned artists Alexei Butirskiy of Moscow, Russia, and Tremont-based artist Giancarlo Calicchia. Reservations are first-come, first-served and limited to the first 150 people.
Mr. Butirskiy will be at Piccadilly’s Fine Art Galleries in the days preceding The Art of Healing event for an exhibit of his work and to demonstrate his technique. An online auction of his work opens on May 7 and closes on May 20 at 7 p.m.
