Tchaikovsky's Fourth

Tchaikovsky’s life was in disarray when he wrote his famous Fourth Symphony. He had entered into a marriage that only lasted six weeks, and he poured out his feelings into the composition to regain his sanity. He once described the piece as a way to “rejoice in the happiness of others and you can still live.” Tonight at 7 at Blossom, the Cleveland Orchestra performs the Fourth Symphony along with works by Antonín Leopold Dvořák and Dmitri Dmitriyevich Shostakovich.
