Survival Kit Sundays with Sister Smirk/Joey Nix/Brian Straw
When: Sun., Feb. 17, 8 p.m. 2019
Last year, local singer-songwriter Brian Straw started hosting Survival Kit Sundays, a singer-songwriter night devoted to showcasing local talent. The name comes from the 78th Street Studio-based recording studio/art gallery that Straw operates. Sister Smirk, one of tonight's acts, plays accessible indie rock. Songs such as the Moldy Peaches-like "Animals" feature soft vocals and gentle guitar riffs in addition to the occasional blasts of white noise. (Niesel)
