Surfin' CLE

One of Cleveland’s most unique subcultures is the tightknit collective of Lake Erie’s surfers. Cleveland’s surf culture and the people who comprise it have inspired a group art exhibition at Canopy Collective, created by one of its own. Surfin’ CLE is organized by Lake Erie surfer and local artist Steve Simmons and sponsored by Bill Cochrane of Nalu SUP and Surf. Surfin’ CLE opens with a reception from 5 to 10 tonight at Canopy. During the opening, Canopy will be screening Scott Ditzenberger’s 2009 documentary about surfing in Cleveland, Out of Place. (Usmani)
