Strike a Pose

Are you an aspiring yogi? Or maybe you just took a yoga class once to fulfill a school credit? No matter what yogic skill you have, there’s a fascinating new exhibit opening today at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Yoga: The Art of Transformation delves into the history and philosophical origins of yoga; the exhibit has rare illustrations of different asanas (postures) from 1602 and never before seen in the U.S. There are also paintings, divination texts, 15-foot scrolls of the various chakras, a movie from 1906 and more. If you want to take things to the next level, there is a yoga session offered every Sunday in conjunction with the exhibit, but reservations are highly recommended. Admission to the exhibit is free for members and $15 for nonmembers. The Sunday yoga classes carry a separate admission fee. Details are on the website. (Trenholme)
