Street Sounds

Reverend Gary Davis used to play guitar on the streets of Harlem. He was so good that he caught the attention of guys like singer-guitarist David Bromberg, guitarist Woody Mann and the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir. Hot Tuna’s Jorma Kaukonen likens meeting the man to meeting Elvis. The documentary Harlem Street Singer takes a look at his career, if you can call it that, since he never left the Harlem streets. The movie makes its Cleveland premiere tonight at 7 at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Tickets are $9. (Niesel)
