Stephen Kellogg/Fort Atlantic/Caroline Brooks

Probably known more for his tenure at the helm of Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, the Massachusetts-born singer-songwriter etched another notch in his solo career earlier this year. Blunderstone Rookery is an easy-going affair, and one that fits perfectly with the June weather in which it was released. But October is still a fine month for a Kellogg show. On the new album, there’s a nice blend of the upbeat and the laid-back. Songs like “Good Red Wine” offers plenty of time for contemplative listening, while “The Best” has a toe-tapping rhythm to it. Earlier in the year, Kellogg released “Crosses” as a single. That song reminds the listener that Kellogg’s been channeling a quintessentially American sound for years. On his latest outing, he’s at his best. Fort Atlantic and Caroline Brooks open the show. (Sandy)
