Sad Bastard Sounds

For years, Doug Niemczura played in the terrific local garage rock act Quazi Modo. But the band split up years ago and Niemczura moved to Austin. Now, the guy is back in town for the summer bartending at Prosperity Social Club and has put together a special night of music he’s dubbed “A Sad Bastard Social.” We’re thinking that means these bands all play rather somber, introspective music. Or something like that. The line-up includes Ashville’s Drunken Prayer, Austin’s Mike Nicolai and local Brian Straw. Prosperity will serve up a special chili dog for the occasion and will offer drink specials all night. (Jeff Niesel)
