Even without zombies nipping at your heels, there are good reasons to run in Lake View Cemetery. Among them:
peaceful surroundings, beautiful art and architecture, and today’s inaugural 5K Run Through History. The shaded course will take runners — and walkers — past some of the cemetery’s highlights, including the resting places of luminaries like John D. Rockefeller, Garrett A. Morgan, and President James A. Garfield. Race day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the cemetery’s Mayfield gate at the corner of Kenilworth and Mayfield. Walkers pay $20 and step off at 8:30; runners pay $25 and start at 9. The registration fee includes refreshments, yoga stretch breaks, and prizes. Plus, the first 200 registrants get T-shirts. Proceeds benefit the Lake View Cemetery Foundation. Call the number below for more information.
