Pigeons Playing Ping Pong/Vibe & Direct

Having carved out a nice, funky name for themselves on the regional jam band circuit, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong brings a terrific level of fun to their shows. Anyone who’s been paying attention knows this to be the case. Their latest album, Pleasure, dropped just last week, and throughout the collection of tunes we see the band doubling down on the danceable funk. Opener “Live It Up” refracts a bass-heavy groove as disco light, and drummer Dan Schwartz keeps the whole thing moving at a steady, dive-in-headfirst pace. These guys adroitly drift into improv, as well, so be sure to tune in. (Sandy)
