"Pffft!" at Buckbuck

If you think “art gallery” is code for “stuffy” and “elitist,” tonight’s opening at Ohio City’s Buckbuck gallery could blow you away. Pffft! is a potty-humor themed exhibition, with works from artists unafraid to depict the unmentionable. Gallery co-owners Joe Lanzilotta and Derek Maxfield have made it their mission to stimulate Cleveland creativity. “We wanted a space where we could create for ourselves,” says Lanzilotta, a graphic designer and Ohio University grad. “We wanted to set up a shop and do whatever we wanted.” So far, that’s included hosting a combo chili-cookoff/art show, and a series of yoga sessions. “We didn’t want to focus too much on being a traditional art gallery. We’re open to anything that promotes creativity in Cleveland.” Tonight’s reception begins at 7, and admission is free.
