Paradise: Love

When Teresa (Margarethe Tiesel), a 50-year-old Austrian woman, travels to Kenya, she thinks she’ll meet the man of her dreams. Things don’t go exactly as planned, however, and the locals (many of whom are portrayed by first-time actors essentially playing versions of themselves) treat her like a sex object. One critic has appropriately said Ulrich Seidl’s Paradise: Love is “the greatest film ever made about the weird socio-economics of tourism.” That’s quite a claim. (Jeff Niesel)
