Of Montreal/Yip Deceiver

For Of Montreal’s latest effort, last year's White is Relic/Irrealis Mood, band leader Kevin Barnes took inspiration from the extended dance mixes that pop music artists released in the '80s. The themes about identity found in works by James Baldwin, Angela Davis and Kathy Acker inspired the lyrical content. As a result, the songs are both danceable and thought-provoking. They'll undoubtedly complement the tunes in the band's extensive catalog. Yip Deceiver, a band that features Of Montreal's Davey Pierce and Nicolas Dobbratz, opens the show. (Niesel)
