ENCORE Chamber Music Institute presents a program of provocative composers asking us to listen deeply to the society we are shaping together. Charles Ives’ Piano Trio opens the evening, weaving familiar American folk songs into unexpected twists. Andy Akiho’s Haiku 2 uses everyday objects to reflect on the sounds surrounding our daily lives, while Jacob TV’s Body of Your Dreams confronts how media shapes our self-image. The centerpiece, Andrew Rindfleisch’s American Descent, offers a searing, urgent soundscape examining the fractures and contradictions of contemporary America, challenging us to reckon with the country we call home.
