Natural Child/Ma Holos/Wooly Bullies

Distilling the essence of a Nashville garage band, Natural Child has developed a road-tested sound that somehow calls back simultaneously multiple eras of 20th-century American music. Their latest album, Dancin’ With Wolves, builds on everything they’d done thus far and offers to the listener a cohesive collection of danceable jams. “We got a lot of things done on that record that we’d been trying to do for a couple of years.” bassist Wes Traylor tells Paste. This time around, the band evolved into a five-piece and took on the vibe and sound of a larger family band. The steady journey in “Country Hippie Blues” is a good summary of the band’s sound these days, and it’s mighty nice. (Sandy)
