Following tonight's Beachland show, indie rockers Mt. Joy will continue on to play big festivals such as Austin City Limits, Life Is Beautiful, Bumbershoot and Voodoo. The band's new self-titled album opens with the brittle folk tune "I'm Your Wreck" and doesn't let up, delivering the kind of undulating rootsy tunes that would make bands like the Decemberists jealous. The hiccuping vocals in "Sheep," a political tune about police brutality, helps show off the band's soulful side. (Niesel)
