Singer Morgan James, whose parents encouraged her to explore the arts as a child, “hit the ground running” when she moved to New York when she was 18 to study at Juilliard. She signed a record deal a mere week before recording her first solo album, Morgan James Live: A Celebration of Nina Simone. She is touring in support of Nobody's Fool, a return to her R&B roots. She performs tonight at 6:30 at the Kent Stage. Kirk Thurmond opens the show.
