Mike Doughty Plays Soul Coughing's Ruby Vroom/The Ghost of Mr. Oberon

Former Soul Coughing frontman Mike Doughty usually doesn't have good things to say about the band he fronted from 1992 to 2000. Though internal tensions ripped the group apart, the band made some great albums before imploding. The savvy Ruby Vroom might be the best disc in the catalog. it features songs such as the jazzy "Is Chicago, Not Chicago" and the clever "Screenwriters Blues." Doughty revisits the album tonight for its 25th anniversary. (Niesel)
