Mariachi El Bronx

The Bronx is a punk band, but they moonlight as a mariachi band too. Last year’s release, The Bronx (2013) features songs like “Torches” and “Under the Rabbit” with high energy guitar and drums with Caughthran’s scratchy vocals singing catchy refrains. Meanwhile, pretty much all of their mariachi stuff is done in a way that acknowledges their second-generation California roots, yet shows they take their Mexican roots seriously. Listed as their altar ego name on House of Blues’ website, will they playing punk or mariachi? Either way, the music will get you moving. (Trenholme)
