Man Overboard/Light Years/Crookshanks

If you’ve ever sat around a campfire with an acoustic guitar, you could play a rendition of Man Overboard’s “Love Your Friends, Die Laughing,” and it wouldn’t seem out of place, even though the band, which takes its name from its Blink 182 song, has a pop-punk sound best suited to small, dank clubs. Since 2008, the five-piece New Jersey set has released two EPs, an acoustic EP, a compilation album, and two studio full-lengths loaded with its upbeat punk vibe. They’ve been avidly spreading the motto “defend pop punk,” something they’ll undoubtedly do tonight at Now That’s Class. (Hunt)
