Man of Aran

Considered the father of the documentary film, director Robert J. Flaherty made a number of significant films before he passed away in 1951. With Return of the Naive, a special program featuring four features and four short films, the Cleveland Museum of Art provides a retrospective of his work. Today at 1:30 p.m., it screens the 1934 film Man of Aran, a film about the fisherman and farmers who live on the Aran Islands off the coast of Ireland. A showing of A Night of Storytelling, the first Gaelic language talkie, precedes the screening. Tickets are $10. (Niesel)
