Given that garage rock bands from Puerto Rico don’t exactly play Cleveland on a regular basis, this appearance from Latin rockers Los Vigilantes has particular appeal. Clearly influenced by the ’50s and ’60s, these guys alternate between surf-y rave-ups (“Mi Mami Dijo”) and songs that sound like weird mash-ups of the Damned, Social D and Sha Na Na (“Que Mal”). We’re guessing that since this show will be at the punk club Now That’s Class, the band will emphasize the more abrasive side of its sound and play prickly punk tunes such as “A Ella.” Though the guys sing all their tunes in Spanish, they don’t qualify as world music so don’t go to this show expecting to hear from sultry Latin rhythms.
