Lecture With Q&A - Talmud & Literature: How an Ancient Jewish Text Can Inspire Contemporary Art

Winner of Israel’s 2014 Sapir Prize, The Ruined House interweaves imaginative Talmudic texts and graphics with depictions of contemporary Jewish life. Join CWRU–Siegal Lifelong Learning’s Alanna Cooper in conversation with award-winning author Ruby Namdar for a discussion on how the Talmud has inspired Namdar’s life as a modern Jewish writer, and an exploration of art as creative spiritual practice. Note: Ruby Namdar also speaks the following morning at the Maltz Museum on being an Israeli-American author & his award winning book, The Ruined House.
