In this life of 24-hour news cycles and smartphones that have more computing power than we ever thought imaginable 20 years ago, Kenny Chesney would trade it all away for “a pirate flag and an island girl.” Chesney has been recording music since 1990. He’s issued 16 albums over that span, 14 of which have made it to certified gold status. This year’s Life On A Rock repeats that classic country anthem of simpler times away from the busy city life. “Pirate Flag,” the first single, starts with an island rhythm on synthesizer and mandolin before riffing into a predictable guitar pattern and a relatively catchy chorus. The album’s third track “Spread The Love,” features the Wailers for an oddly perfect collaboration. Eli Young Band will open the show with their fresh blend of indie rock guitar licks and country lyrics; he’s made an impression with singles like “Even If It Breaks Your Heart.” (William Hoffman)
