JINJOO’S CARTE BLANCHE | Fantasies of Aino Sibelius

ENCORE Chamber Music Institute presents a program born from Artistic Director Jinjoo Cho’s visit to Ainola, the home of Aino and Jean Sibelius. Inspired by the creative life and resilience cultivated there, the repertoire traces a lineage of musical imagination across generations. Jörg Widmann extends the spirit of fantasy that resonates with Sibelius’ sound world, while Sibelius’ Five Pieces, Op. 81 reveals his intimate, lyrical voice. The program culminates in Schoenberg’s masterpiece Verklärte Nacht, reflecting a vision of unconditional love that beautifully echoes the enduring partnership between Aino and Jean Sibelius.
