Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child

A graffiti artist who became legitimized in the 1980s when he began exhibiting his neo-expressionist paintings in galleries and museums around the world, Jean-Michel Basquiat took influence from hip-hop, post-punk and street art. The Whitney Museum of American Art even held a retrospective of his art in 1992. Directed by Tamra Davis. Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child documents the life of Basquiat, the subject of a current Cleveland Museum of Art exhibition. The movie screens at 7 tonight and at 7 on Friday night at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Admission is $9, $7 for CMA members, seniors and students. (Niesel)
