The documentary film If the Dancer Dances follows New York-based choreographer Stephen Petronio and his contemporary dance company as they work to re-create RainForest, a 1968 work by the late Merce Cunningham. Petronio feels it's important to stage the dance to "keep it alive," but it's a difficult piece to reenact, and plenty of drama ensues as the troupe enters rehearsals. The movie makes its local debut today at 1:30 p.m. at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Tickets cost $10, or $7 for CMA members. (Niesel)
