Husky/Hannah Georgas/Sun Spots

The first Australian band to sign with Sub Pop Records, indie rockers Husky have quickly gained momentum over a short period of time thanks to the impression they make on their excellent debut, Forever So. If you mute the latest single/music video “Tidal Wave,” and simply watch it, you might think it’s an animated short by Tim Burton. But despite its visual creepiness, the song is soothing, and front man Husky Gawenda’s humming and vocals make the song into a good lullaby. The same can be said for the album overall; acoustic guitars and keys create a warm feel, which makes this record suitable for the coming winter season. Just don’t listen to it while on a late-night drive; Gawenda’s voice is soothing to the point that it’s sleep-inducing. (Sam Mendez)
