Hugulkultur, pronounced Hoo-gull culture, is an old German way of preparing garden beds for next season, popularized by the inimitable Austrian permaculture superhero, Sepp Holzer. It's a technique of burying logs to serve as garden beds for the next 5-10 years. It's known for producing delicious crops in fungi rich soil, while reducing watering and bending over.
