Hidden Hospitals/Nomads/My Mouth is the Speaker/Hriliu

Although Chicago-based alternative quartet Hidden Hospitals, a collaboration between former members of bands like Damiera and Kiss Kiss, has yet to release a full-fledged debut album, this hasn’t stopped them from garnering praise for the two-part EP that they have been supporting for the last two years. Lead vocalist Dave Raymond’s dynamic range is prevalent on EP 002, allowing for both a soft touch, like in “Monsters,” and a more aggressive rock edge, as evident in “Absence of Emotion.” Meanwhile, ultra-noodly guitar riffs add significant depth and give Hidden Hospitals the sound of a new band whose members have been around the block more than once before.
