Hayes' Day

With Smiling Through the Apocalypse, director Tom Hayes set out to profile his father, Esquire magazine editor Harold Hayes. As Tom Hayes tells us, some have called his dad “the greatest post-War magazine editor ever.” The magazine became the “red-hot center of journalism” as writers such as Nora Ephron and Tom Wolfe began contributing. The Hollywood Reporter has called the film “a memorable time capsule.” It screens at 7 p.m. at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Tickets are $9. (Niesel)
