When George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic played Quicken Loans Arena last year as part of the Rock Hall’s week of induction festivities, the cavernous venue wasn’t well-suited to the aging funk icon’s interactive approach. The guys brought a big ensemble on stage and then tried to turn the joint into a dance party; it just didn’t work. But in the confines of House of Blues, that approach has a better chance of succeeding. You can bet Clinton, a Rock Hall inductee, will revisit classics such as “One Nation Under a Groove,” “Atomic Dog” and “Flash Light,” seminal funk tunes that have been sampled by numerous rappers over the years. The costumes will be outlandish — in the past, at least one band member has strutted around in nothing but a giant diaper — and the vibe will be festive, so even if Clinton can’t hit the high notes anymore (and it’s not like he ever really could), this show will be tons of fun.
