Gary Numan/Big Black Delta/Roman Remains

Electronic/industrial pioneer Gary Numan got his start in the late '70s with his punk-influenced band Tubeway Army. He had an out-of-the-blue hit in 1979 when the dark, Joy Division-like "Cars" somehow became a hit. The hits quickly dried up but Numan has soldiered on thanks to the fact that contemporary acts such as Nine Inch Nails and Battles have cited him as an influence. He's kept active too. Released last year, his new studio album Splinter is a real tour de force that commences with the noisy, NIN-meets-Peter Gabriel tune "I Am Dust" and doesn't let up. The last time we can recall Numan playing Cleveland was for a 2001 show at the now shuttered Odeon so this show has an extra amount of anticipation attached to it. (Niesel)
