Galactic Featuring David Shaw/Nigel Hall Band

Tonight’s show revives the spirit of Mardi Gras by way of Galactic’s all-in funk carnivale. In a word — or two: let’s party! Last year, the band released the supremely NOLA-inspired Carnivale Electricos. Cue up “Hey Na Na” to pick up on the communal vibes Galactic enjoys proffering so dearly. And a song like “Karate” will make you feel all “danceably delirious” and — oh, is that that special brand of Frenchmen Street sweat forming on your brow? Anyway, beyond the fun in that album, the band’s catalog extends back for years. Dig out your copy of 1998’s Crazyhorse Mongoose (you do have one, don’t you?) and let the afternoon meanderings of “Hamp’s Hump” carry you toward bliss and, inevitably, the front doors of Beachland Ballroom.
