From the New World

Antonin Dvořák reportedly admired African-American spirituals and was fascinated by Native American traditions. When describing his New World symphony, he has said, “I tried to write only in the spirit of those national American melodies.” Tonight at Blossom in a program dubbed From the New World, the Cleveland Orchestra will perform the piece along with Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 2.
