Free talk by local artist Catherine Opie

The Cleveland Museum of Art is pleased to announce a free talk by contemporary artist Catherine Opie at 6:30 p.m., in the Recital Hall. The lecture is co-sponsored by the Contemporary Art Society, the Friends of Photography of the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Cleveland Clinic. About Catherine Opie: She first gained recognition for her portraiture in the mid 1990s. Her work has since focused on subcultures including surfers, high school football players, and lesbian families, as well as other topics including landscape photographs of American cities and architecture. Opie was recently commissioned by the Cleveland Clinic to create new work, and the artist has chosen to photograph the dramatic transformations of Lake Erie throughout the seasons. Please join us for a presentation of this project and her work.
