For the Love of Food in Westlake

It’s all too easy to point fingers and demand change in political documentaries without accomplishing very much (Michael Moore, anyone?). But in For the Love of Food, a 2012 documentary by Oberlin-based Brad Masi, the local-foods movement is celebrated rather than placed on a pedestal. The film is more relaxing than reactionary, says Jan Litterst, a board member at Westlake’s Unity Spiritual Center, which will screen the flick tonight at 7 p.m. “It’s almost something you could meditate to.” Focused on the local-foods movement in nearby Oberlin, the film “talks about local foods and the positive things that are being done in Ohio to grow the local-food economy,” says Litterst. “That’s what makes it really different.” Bring your appetite for some locally sourced snacks. Admission is $10.
